District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro’s office on Friday (Feb. 8) announced it has secured a murder indictment against a man accused in the fatal shooting of another man outside a New Orleans East convenience store last December.

Edward Lunkins was charged with obstructing justice in a homicide investigation and with the second-degree murder of Clifford Adeoshun in the indictment handed up Feb. 7 by an Orleans Parish grand jury. Lunkins, 34, would face mandatory life imprisonment if convicted as charged.

Adeoshun, 29, was found shot in the head around 1:50 p.m. on Dec. 2, 2018. The shooting occurred outside a Discount Zone at 6711 Chef Menteur Hwy. Adeoshun died at a hospital the next day around 1 p.m.

Ad hoc Criminal District Judge Dennis Waldron increased Lunkins’ bond from $250,000 to $300,000 after the indictment was read.

Assistant District Attorney Abigail MacDonald presented the case to the grand jury.
