Jury Service

Jury service is a civic duty, and a cornerstone of the American criminal justice system. If you have received a jury summons from Criminal District Court and have questions, call (504-658-9200), email (ejuror@criminalcourt.org) or visit the Jury Commission website.

Your jury summons will have detailed instructions on where and when to report. Jurors at Criminal District Court typically are asked to report by 8:30 a.m. on the day of their notice.

Basic requirements for jury eligibility include being 18 years of age or older, a citizen of the United States who resides in Orleans Parish, and having the ability to communicate in the English language. Eligible jurors also must not have been convicted of a felony, and must have had their civil rights restored (Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure Article 401). One may become eligible for jury service again two years after completion of jury service.
