Attorneys employed by the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s office are prosecutors representing the State of Louisiana. They cannot provide legal referrals or legal advice to criminal defendants or their families and associates.
The Louisiana State Bar Association provides a lawyer referral hotline in the New Orleans area of 504-561-8828.
The LSBA also provides an online membership directory that includes an attorney’s current eligibility to practice law in Louisiana, which can be accessed here.
The LSBA promotes the dignity of the legal profession and upholds ethical behavior, but has no jurisdiction over attorney discipline, which is the responsibility of the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board. Information on how to register a complaint against a lawyer is available at www.ladb.org and on this page of the state bar association website.
